Speaker notes
Write speaker notes for each slide, show or hide the notes pane, and see where notes appear when you present, save and export.
Speaker notes are what you want to say while a slide is on screen. Every slide has its own notes.
Show or hide the notes pane
The SPEAKER NOTES pane sits under the canvas in Normal view and is shown each time you open a presentation.
| To | Do this |
|---|---|
| Hide the pane | Click the × at the right of the pane (tooltip Hide notes), choose More › Hide notes, or click View › Show › Speaker notes |
| Show the pane | Choose More › Show notes, or click View › Show › Speaker notes |
The Speaker notes button on the View tab is highlighted while the pane is shown. The pane is part of Normal view; it’s hidden in the slide sorter and the slide master view.
Write notes
- Go to the slide.
- Click in the notes pane. When a slide has no notes, the pane shows the hint “What you want to say when this slide is on screen.”
- Type. Press Return (Enter) to start a new line.
Notes are stored with the slide as you type; there is nothing to apply. Typing on the same slide is merged into one undo step, named “Speaker notes”.
Notes are plain text.
Notes in the slide show
When the current slide has notes, the slide show shows up to the first three lines of them in small, faint text at the bottom-left of the screen.
The slide show runs in one window, and notes appear on the same screen as the slide. See Presenting to a projector or second display.
